A cleanser

Azrael Moonrose has been ridding North Carolina of negative energy for the last six years. With more than 100 cleansings under his belt and one exorcism, he says he's worked with everyone from a fry cook at McDonalds to an investment banker. He first learned about energies from his grandmother who is experienced in Native American medicine.

"I stick with the name 'cleanser' because it's very general," Moonrose says. "I focus on the manipulation of energy. I'm essentially the garbage man."

"I don't offer guarantees, so I don't charge people," he says. He uses a little dramatic flare and makes each experience personal for his clients. "I try to focus on their beliefs," he says. "It doesn't matter whose god they're worshipping, what matters is they have faith. They just need something to believe."

"You've got to make your own truth," he says. "I was born and raised in church." When he was 17 years old, he strayed from his family's belief system to form his own. "It's a life system based around the idea that everything is energy," he says.

"The hardest part is when I get called in for an exorcism of a person. That's totally different and a lot more strenuous," he says. "That's not something you should mess around with."
