Attack of the Summer Film Series

When: Thu., June 14 2012

If you can get past the scenes where David Bowie's junk threatens to burst free of his spandex attire, Labyrinth is one adventurous fantasy flick. Directed by Muppet creator Jim Henson, the film stars Jennifer Connelly as Sarah, a rebellious teen so pissed off about having to babysit her brother that she wishes him away. That's where Bowie comes in. Playing Jareth, The Goblin King, Bowie whisks the crying babe to his faraway lair where he amuses him with zesty songs like "Magic Dance." The only way Sarah, who is regretful of her harsh words, can reclaim her sibling (and save her own ass) is to embark on a maze-twisting journey filled with strange creatures and dangerous quests. The film kicks off The Light Factory’s Attack of the Summer Film Series: 80’s Fantasy Flash Back, which later will screen The Neverending Story (July 12) and The Dark Crystal (Aug. 9).
