*The Glass Menagerie Charlotte Repertory Theatre will open its 26th season with one of the great American plays of the 20th century. All performances will be in Booth Playhouse. *Tales of Sex and Horror From the Bible Stan Peal has created a new, controversial work for adults only! A multi-genre look at some of the Old Testament's most disturbing, erotic, and horrific stories, ones we most likely didn't learn about in Sunday School. This play is part of the Off-Tryon NoDa New Play Festival. Wed., Sept. 25, 7 p.m. $10 for individual show. $15 for admission to all festival performances. *Tiny Ninja Theater presents Macbeth, as part of the Charlotte Shout Festival. Shakespeare's classic tale will be performed by inch-high plastic ninjas and assorted dime-store figures. Visual Arts: Openings

Art Institute of Charlotte Gallery Jazz Series. A series of paintings by Asheville artist, Patrick Symonds. Opening reception, Oct. 10 from 5:30-7pm. Oct. 5-31. 2110 Water Ridge Parkway. 704-357-8020.

Charlotte Art League Art Talk and Feedback. A gathering of artists and those interested in the arts, led by Joana Wardell. The public is invited to bring a completed to almost completed work of art for review and critique. 11:30am-1:30pm. Second Thursday of every month; Fourth Wednesday of every month. Fall Into Art. Annual Members Only Juried Competition, sponsored this year by The Crosland Group, Inc., and Binder's Art Supply. Gallery W.D.O. October Exhibit. Hoss Haley- Steel and Concrete Sculpture. Byron Temple- A Tribute to Fifty Years, Clay. After a series of debilitating strokes, Byron Temple passed away on April 14th at the age of 68. The October show is a tribute to and celebration of Byron's life and work. Oct. 1-31. *Gateway Village Southeast Origami Festival. Thirty locations throughout the city will house exhibits that collectively demonstrate the influence origami has made over recent decades. Over half of the exhibits are gathered in the center-city area in the form of a tour that may be experienced by walking or riding the free center city trolley buses.
