Boston artist Loïs Mailou Jones touched many with the by-product of her paintbrush hitting the canvas. Her works, birthed of the late Harlem Renaissance, grew into more contemporary art with influences splattering from across the globe, including America, Africa, France and Haiti. That in mind, you don't want to miss Mint Museum of Art's new exhibition, Loïs Mailou Jones: A Life in Vibrant Color, which features more than 70 works by Jones, including paintings, sketches and textile designs. Exhibition continues through Feb. 27, 2010. $5-$10; Free for children 4 years old and under. Tuesday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. (admission is free from 5 p.m.-9 p.m.); Wednesday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Mint Museum of Art, 2730 Randolph Road. 704-337-2000. www.mintmuseum.org.
