Author Amor Towles' debut novel, Rules of Civility, is set in 1930s Manhattan, where a young Brooklyn gal (Katey Kontent) is granted a fresh start and high-paying job among the city's elite. After a night out on the town and a chance meeting with a wealthy businessman, her life is forever altered. She obtains a promising new career and social status among the city’s elite. But with gains come losses. Readers are left to ponder the "what if's" of their own lives, while examining the deeper meaning of random occurrences.
