The FireBird Singers will perform modern and traditional spirituals in two free concerts June 26 in Charlotte and Concord, raising money for local charities. The 15-member group is devoted exclusively to a cappella (unaccompanied) music. The auditioned singers, led by Musical Director Cathy Youngblood and Artistic Director Marc Williams Hull, are seasoned choral musicians from across the Charlotte region. The concert is free; an offering will be taken on behalf Bridge to Recovery, a free, Christian, sober, transitional house for men and women seeking recovery, healing and personal transformation from addiction and alcoholism (www.bridgetorecovery.org).
