Center of the Earth spanked Charlotte’s tight-fannied, buttoned-down image for two decades with offerings that ranged from insipid to sublime. Once a diamond in the rough, long a lighthouse for a vast and ignored demographic, and now a black hole born from a bright star, Center of the Earth leaves a massive vacuum on North Davidson Street that’s going to be hard to fill.
