Charlotte houses one of only two buildings in the U.S. designed by prolific Swiss architect Mario Botta, and the Bechtler chose to celebrate this fact throughout the past year. Apart from a small collection of artworks whose creators inspired the architect, the exhibition was a clean presentation of original wood models and black-and-white photographs of Botta’s pure, sleek designs, which are heavy in masonry but airy with natural light.
