The Dell Curry High School Basketball Shootout begins today at Cricket Arena, to run through Saturday. The event will feature four-team local boys and girls tournaments, as well as an eight-team national boys tournament. Games begin at 9am every day, and run about every two hours from that point. More holiday installments on WDAV include Christmas Around the Country from 6-7pm and The Christmas Revels: A Celebration of the Winter Solstice 2001 from 9-11pm. The winter solstice is at 2:21pm today and marks a time of celebration for various cultures throughout the world.

The Hardee's Tournament of Champions begins today at the Charlotte Coliseum. At 7pm, St. Joseph's takes on Georgia State, followed by the struggling North Carolina Tarheels taking on the College of Charleston at 9pm, in what may be a closer game than one might expect. The Year of the Perfect Christmas Tree, a musical adaptation of the Gloria Houston book, will be presented by CPCC's Opera Theatre this afternoon and tomorrow at 3pm in Pease Auditorium on the campus of CPCC. As if you haven't known what happens on December 25 since you've been, like, three years old, let us fill you in. It's Christmas, that biggest of holidays, wherein people open presents, eat ham and turkey, hang out with their families and loved ones, and drink eggnog. Funny, traditions. The eggnog, we mean.

WDAV will run Christmas music from Classical 24 throughout the day to add to your Holiday festivities.

And if Christmas Music isn't what you're looking for, WFAE 90.7 will be broadcasting Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol starting at 9am. The performance features award-winning actor, director and playwright Tom Mula.

UNC-TV presents a North Carolina Christmas classic today, the North Carolina School of the Arts/Winston-Salem Symphony production of The Nutcracker. It airs tonight at 9pm on channel 58 (Time Warner cable channel 13).
