Not much really needs to be said about the annual Speed Street Festival. Every year it clogs the streets of Uptown with NASCAR fans who come out for live music, food, autograph sessions with NASCAR drivers, games and more. It’s all one big party before the big 600 race at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Sunday. The music lineup — headliners include Thompson Square on Friday and 38 Special on Saturday — continues to be less impressive than years past, but there’s still some fun to be had. Michael Jackson fans can moonwalk their way over for Throwback Thursday, which features a performance by MJ tribute band, Who’s Bad. If nothing else interests you, then come out to people-watch.
