One in three teens have experienced violence in dating relationships, according to national statistics. More often than not, teens hide abuse in their dating relationships.

This Saturday, Youth Working Together, a local violence prevention group, will screen movie shorts about healthy relationships at ImaginOn in the Round Theater. These movies produced and filmed by local teens will show what young people think about relationships. Those in attendance will have a chance to win door prizes and learn about a new video and song contest. The event, which kicks off at 2 p.m. is free and open to the public.

Though organizers say this will be a fun event, teaching teens about domestic violence is something that absolutely needs to happen.

In 2009, according to the Mecklenburg County Women's Commission, there were seven domestic violence homicides in the county — several of the victims were under 25 years old.
