Take a look at the photo above. That is ISIS, the now defunct Boston-based band that helped pioneer post-metal, which paired heavy metal’s blunt attack with post-rock’s skyscraping panoramas.

There is, of course, another ISIS making headlines these days — the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, a jihadist group and self-identified Muslim caliphate that’s has slaughtered Christians, Yazidis and other Muslims who aren't members of the Sunni Islamic sect and that’s claimed responsibility for the beheading of American journalist James Foley.

One would think the two would not be easily confused.

And yet.

After receiving some vitriol on its Facebook page from some, uh, less than perceptive people who believe the musical act's ex-members are associated with the Islamic terrorist group, the band last week changed the name of its Facebook page from “ISIS” to “Isis the band.” Because, you know, terrorism.

"It certainly caught us off guard,” former ISIS drummer Aaron Harris told ABC News. “Fans have emailed us that they're reluctant to wear our T-shirts now and we've also gotten some off-color comments. Just like our fans, we've been watching the news in disbelief. We haven't commented on it because we haven't been an active band since 2010, even though our music does live on. We maintain our Facebook page to keep people up-to-date on our current musical projects."
