Going out in Charlotte doesn't have to be expensive. In fact, to prove that statement, we've compiled a list of cheap - $10 or less - things to do in the Q.C. this weekend. These events may vary, but they're all entertaining and they won't break your bank (piggy banks excluded).

Bearden Birthday Bash at Romare Bearden Park: This three-day event celebrates artist Romare Bearden’s birthday. Bearden, a Charlotte native who gained his claim to fame through colorful collages and paintings, is also the inspiration behind the striking Uptown park. The event features local art, live music, activities for children, food vendors and more. Free admission. Matthews Alive! Labor Day Weekend Festival: This Labor Day weekend takes place in historic downtown Matthews. It’s a fun, family-friendly event where music, arts and local vendors come together. Free admission. Aug. 29, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.; Aug. 30, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Aug. 31, 12 p.m. to 9 p.m.; Sept. 1, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Held in Matthews at the corner of John Street and Trade Street. www.matthewsalive.org.

Summer Bucket List Party at Rooftop 210: Skydiving, concert going, vacationing, and whitewater rafting are all things that should be on your bucketlist — but they are also fun things to do over and over again. At this special party at Rooftop 210, folks have the opportunity to win prizes that will let you cross more stuff off the list. Free admission. Squirt Day Party at Snug Harbor: This summer day party series comes to a close with live music from Modern Primitives, Stranger Day, Go Dreamer, Elevator Jay, and more. Labor Day Celebration at U.S. National Whitewater Center: Enjoy this festive celebration in honor of Labor Day. There are trail races in the morning followed by cornhole tournaments, live music (Lefty Williams, Joe Pug, Langhorne Slim & The Law) and fireworks. Free admission.
