Bearden Birthday Bash at Romare Bearden Park: This three-day event celebrates artist Romare Bearden’s birthday. Bearden, a Charlotte native who gained his claim to fame through colorful collages and paintings, is also the inspiration behind the striking Uptown park. The event features local art, live music, activities for children, food vendors and more. Free admission. Matthews Alive! Labor Day Weekend Festival: This Labor Day weekend takes place in historic downtown Matthews. It’s a fun, family-friendly event where music, arts and local vendors come together. Summer Bucket List Party at Rooftop 210: Skydiving, concert going, vacationing, and whitewater rafting are all things that should be on your bucketlist — but they are also fun things to do over and over again.
