Duke Energy will begin dredging the Dan River this week. The biggest deposit is 300 yards long, 25 yards wide and up to 1 foot deep. The company will use giant vacuums to suck up the muck, but not much. About "2,500 tons of ash and sediment will be sucked up by the end of June - a small fraction of the up to 39,000," that spilled in February.

A European court has ruled that Google must comply with users' request to remove irrelevant personal information. It is unclear how the decision will affect Google's U.S. operation. "If, following a search made on the basis of a person's name, the list of results displays a link to a web page which contains information on the person in question, that data subject may approach the operator directly and, where the operator does not grant his request, bring the matter before the competent authorities in order to obtain, under certain conditions, the removal of that link from the list of results," the judges said in their ruling.
