Going out in Charlotte doesn't have to be expensive. In fact, to prove that statement, we've compiled a list of cheap things to do in the Q.C. this weekend. These events may vary, but they're all entertaining and they won't break your bank (piggy banks excluded).

Picasso and Braque Go to the Movies at Bechter Museum of Modern Art: The film focuses on the wonders of technology - including aviation and cinema - its influence on artists Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque. Screening as part of Bechtler Museum of Modern Art's Modernism + Film series. The event kicks off at 6 p.m. with a reception, a cash bar and free light bites in the Bechtler lobby. Cornhole Tournament at Strike City: Cornhole is serious business at Strike City this week. The bowling venue welcomes the sport into its quarters as part of a weekend tournament with more than 50 participating teams and cash prizes. $10 entry fee for teams; free to watch. March 21-23. Andrea Weigl at Park Road Books: Not everyone likes pickles, but those of us who do will appreciate News & Observer food writer Andrea Weigl's, Pickles and Preserves: A Savor the South Cookbook. Weigl will sign and discuss at Park Road Books. There will be plenty of pickles and preserves to sample, too. Free admission.
