Grand opening of Artspace 525: A brand-spankin' new studio in the heart of Uptown, Artspace 525 is slated to open with a reception on March 5. The space will serve as a base for Amy Bagwell, director of The Wall Poems of Charlotte (think: those sweet words by A.R. Ammons next to Dandelion Market) and abstract painter Sharon Dowell, who was recently commissioned for the CATS light rail project. Come out and show your support. Free admission. March 5, 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Artspace 525, 525 N. Tryon St.

Alexandra Loesser's White Rabbit
  • Alexandra Loesser's "White Rabbit"

Opening reception of artist Alexandra Loesser's Solo Exhibit at Heist: Featuring an assortment of paintings and drawings, the bundle reflects Loesser's love of the human body, animals and how the two relate. For example, her "White Rabbit" painting is a strikingly realistic portraiture of a nude woman holding a white rabbit. Both appear blank, dismal, frightened and uncomfortable, yet together they seem united. Free admission. March 7, 8 p.m. Exhibit continues through March 31. 2909 N. Davidson St., Suite 200. www.heistbrewery.com.
