CMPD chief Rodney Monroe will discuss the controversial security cameras installed around Charlotte during the Democratic National Convention at today's City Council meeting. He'll argue the effectiveness of the cameras - bought with the help of a $50 million federal government grant before September's event - in preventing and reporting crime and also address any ethical concerns council members may have about keeping them around.
The meeting, open to the public, is today at 4 p.m. at the government center, 600 E. Fourth St.
