AUG. 27 -- Labor Day Barbecue Cooking Class. The Levine Jewish Community Center of Charlotte will host a class on barbecuing, led by Robert Adler of Ernie's Barbecue (www.erniesbarbeque.com). The class covers tips about cooking on gas grills as well as smoking and grilling techniques. And, that isn't all: There will also be demonstrations on how to make a variety of appetizers and desserts. AUG. 30 -- End of Summer Block Party. Known for its liquor, wine, champagne and beer selections, the Rustic Martini is celebrating its one-year anniversary with an end-of-summer block party. It will feature DJ AG spinning vibes on the roof, and in case you have parking worries, there will be a tented parking lot with more than 200 spaces. 5 p.m.-11 p.m. Rustic Martini, 616 N. AUG. 30 -- Nawlins Blues Nights. Ruby's Dinner Club in historic downtown Concord offers a small but flavorful menu of tasty dishes. If you're craving a fancy dinner with a show, then check out its Nawlins Blues Nights. This week features a performance by the jazzy, bluesy musician Bill Averbach & Bam-Jazz, who will dish of out a series of New Orleans-styled tunes.
