Do your little turn on the catwalk ...

I am by no means a fashionista. In fact, I'm more of a fashion disaster.

For starters, I get most of the clothes I wear from Target. And last year, while hosting Charlotte N.C. Fashion Week, I got yelled at by a BeBe employee because I kept pronouncing it "Bay-Bay," which apparently is incorrect. Meanwhile, I had to run to Lotus boutique's "Just for the Night" styling by Effie and be completely made over like a scene from Clueless in order to get ready for my appearance on the Rachael Ray Show (for which I was asked to go on to discuss an article I had written for AOL — which is kinda weird considering said article was not about cooking, but I digress.)

Anyway, I may be a candidate for the "Don't" section of Glamour magazine, but I can still appreciate fashion ... for the nightlife surrounding fashion shows.

The EpiCentre looked like a scene from Fashion Week a few Fridays ago for the Rock the Republic fashion show from Revolution. But coming up, Butter is hosting Fashion's Night Out on Sept. 9, featuring a plethora of local boutiques, and on Sept. 18, SkyBar at the lake celebrates its one-year anniversary with a lingerie fashion show courtesy of Adam & Eve. Don't underestimate the importance of undercover fashion ... I've even seen a nun shopping at Victoria's Secret.

Since the guys are typically the ones with the dress code at clubs, here are some general nightlife fashion tips for the ladies to abide by ...

DO: Wear underwear, and enough fabric to cover your ass. The exposed vagina is so last season.

DO: Wear costume jewelry and non-designer shoes ... you're just going to lose it or wear out the heels anyway.

DO: Be you!

My philosophy on fashion is that your own individual style is what's in style; therefore, it's those surrounding the runway that make the fashion show. But can someone please come up with a fashionable bar/club wristband? I can never seem to make a plastic yellow bracelet coordinate with my outfit, even if it is from Target.
