FRIDAY, OCT. 26 Presenting the ultimate one-stop shopping experience. Charlotte Shops is a three-day shopping festival and fundraiser sponsored by the Junior League of Charlotte. A host of vendors and sponsors will be hawking their wares, so be prepared to get all of your holiday shopping out of the way. Be advised that this event could get tense; bring back-up by way of Mom, sisters, girlfriends, whomever. Also, make time for mingling during Social Shops, from 6-7:30 p.m. 9 a.m.-6 p.m. $3/$12/$15. Avondale Presbyterian Church, 2821 Park Road. www.jlcharlotte.org.

SATURDAY, OCT. 27 Hopefully, you're familiar with Stanley Lambchop's plight. If not, a) where have you been? and b) come out and get in the know. In Jeff Brown's popular series, Stanley's an ordinary kid that wakes up to find himself in a very extraordinary position – he's been flattened (literally) by the bulletin board that hangs above his bed. In The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley, a clever retelling, the different cultures Stanley encounters as a human letter are explored through song and dance. 11 a.m./1:30 p.m./4 p.m. $19-$24. McGlohon Theatre, Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, 345 N. Tryon St. 704-372-1000. www.blumenthalcenter.org.

SATURDAY, OCT. 27 Hands are wonderful things. They can comfort, they can create, they can tickle, they can welcome. What do all these abilities have in common? They all showcase the hands' role in sharing love. And that is what Hands On Charlotte Day 2007 is all about. The greater Charlotte community coming together to help each other and show their love for the place you call home. The day begins with a Kickoff Celebration featuring special guests and then it's straight to work. Show support by offering a hand. 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Garinger High School, 1100 Eastway Drive. 704-333-7471. www.handsoncharlotte.org.

SUNDAY, OCT. 28 In his now infamous one-hit wonder, Bobby "Boris" Pickett proclaimed this of his rhythmically-inclined monster: He did the mash/He did the monster mash/The monster mash/It was a graveyard smash. Sorry, no creatures allowed in this Monster Mash. Guys with Ties Charlotte has gotten together to sponsor this Halloween event meant to get young professionals out, about and giving back at the same. The proceeds will benefit Room at the Inn. 10 p.m.-2 a.m. $10 ADV/$15. CANS Bar and Canteen, 500 W. Fifth St. 704-940-0200. www.guyswithtiescharlotte.com.
