Jail Birds: A couple of women on their way to visit a friend in jail may have plenty of time to hang out with her after they assaulted each other during the trip. Both victims told officers that they were on their way to Gaston County, where the friend is locked up, but they began to argue over whether they should stop at Target on the way. The argument escalated, and the two came to blows.

Pot-Shot: Items used as weapons during assaults in Charlotte last week include a shopping cart being pushed into someone's legs and a cooking pot, the hot contents of which was poured over someone's arms and hands before being used to hit the victim.

Second Chance: A woman in northeast Charlotte tried to commit suicide last week by placing a bag over her head and jumping into a lake. The woman was pulled from the water and brought to a hospital in stable condition. She didn't suffer any serious injury.

Missing Mommy: A man reported his wife missing last week after one of her drinking binges went on a little too long. He told officers that the woman took their daughter to the bus stop one morning and never came home. He said that the woman has an alcohol problem and usually begins drinking in the morning, so it was normal that she did not return from the short errand. But, she usually returns to take her daughter to the stop again.

Thoughtful Thief: A 63-year-old woman filed a report last week after a thief defrauded her of $170. The woman realized that her credit card had been used to make 12 transactions that she didn't make herself. She may not have noticed the crime at all if not for the last purchase, which was a bouquet of flowers that were sent to the victim's husband with a card that read, "Thanks."

Sticky Fingers: A 66-year-old woman called police last week when one of her friends stole from her. The victim told officers that her friend had been at her house for a couple of hours. When the suspect left, the victim noticed that she had stolen pictures of her daughter and grandson, a telephone and some National Geographic magazines.

Whipper Snapper Attacker: A battle of generations took place in north Charlotte last week, with a feud between a 54-year-old woman and a 13-year-old girl. The woman called police because the girl and her friends were throwing eggs and rocks at her as she walked to the store. The girl told officers she was picking on the lady for stepping on her foot the day before.
