Carnitas Guanajuanto moved from its spot on Independence due to the road construction, but they have relocated in East Charlotte (and they still have the original store in Monroe). Carnitas gets the award for producing foods from Guanajuato, a Mexican state. Their tremendous — in all ways — torta ahogada is layered with refried whole pinto beans, sliced grilled pork, bits of marinated jalapenos, shredded farmers cheese and iceberg lettuce, and then a spicy chili sauce is poured over the tops of the bread.
